Wheel Alignment
in Kaukauna, WI

Most drivers don't think about wheel alignment until something makes them. A pull to one side, tires wearing out faster than expected, a steering wheel that sits crooked when the road is straight. By that point, the misalignment has usually been working against your vehicle for a while. At Al Huss Auto & Truck, we use our Hunter ADAS alignment machine to deliver precise, accurate alignment results for all types of vehicles, and we make it easy to stay ahead of it before the signs show up.

Alignment Is About
More Than Driving Straight

white divider

Alignment affects more than how your drive feels. When your wheels are out of alignment, your tires are constantly working against the direction the vehicle is traveling, which accelerates wear, reduces fuel efficiency, puts added stress on steering and suspension components, and affects how your vehicle responds when you need it most.

Wisconsin roads make it worse. Potholes, frost heaves, and harsh winters knock alignment out gradually, sometimes suddenly. Regular alignment checks are one of the simpler ways to protect your tires, your suspension, and your fuel economy all at once.

When Should You
Get an Alignment

white divider

There's no single rule that applies to every driver and every vehicle, but here are the situations where an alignment check makes the most sense:

  • Once a year as part of your regular vehicle maintenance routine
  • After hitting a significant pothole, curb, or road hazard
  • After any steering or suspension repair
  • After new tires are installed to protect your investment from the start
  • When you notice any of the warning signs listed above
  • After a collision, even a minor one that didn’t seem to cause obvious damage

If you're not sure whether your alignment needs attention, bring it in. We'll check it and give you an honest answer.

Two-Wheel Alignment

A two-wheel alignment, also called a front-end alignment, adjusts the angles of the front wheels only. This is appropriate for some older vehicles and certain vehicle configurations where the rear wheels are fixed and not adjustable. We determine whether a two-wheel or four-wheel alignment is right for your vehicle before we begin.

Four-Wheel Alignment

A four-wheel alignment addresses all four wheels and is the standard recommendation for most modern vehicles, including front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive configurations. We adjust all four wheel angles to manufacturer specifications to ensure your vehicle tracks straight, handles correctly, and promotes even tire wear across all four corners.

Alignment Check

Not sure whether your alignment is off? We'll check it. We put your vehicle on our Hunter ADAS alignment machine, take precise measurements of your current wheel angles, and compare them against your manufacturer's specifications. If everything is within range, we'll tell you. If something needs adjustment, we'll show you the measurements and walk you through what the correction involves before any work is approved.

Post-Repair Alignment

Steering and suspension repairs, tire replacements, and other services can affect your wheel alignment even when the alignment was fine before the repair. We perform post-repair alignment checks to make sure new components are properly set and your vehicle leaves our shop handling correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions About
Wheel Alignment

white divider
How often should I have my alignment checked?

Once a year is a good baseline for most drivers, but Wisconsin roads can knock alignment out faster than that. We also recommend checking after any significant impact, after suspension or steering work, and whenever new tires are installed. If something feels off between scheduled visits, don't wait for your annual service.

Yes. When your wheels aren't pointing in the same direction, your tires are dragging slightly with every mile you drive. That friction accelerates tread wear significantly, often in uneven patterns that can shorten tire life by thousands of miles. Getting alignment corrected early is almost always cheaper than replacing tires prematurely.

It's not automatic, but it's strongly recommended. New tires on a vehicle with misaligned wheels will start wearing unevenly right away. An alignment at the time of tire installation protects your investment from the first mile and ensures even wear across all four tires.

Alignment refers to the angles of your wheels relative to each other and to the road. Balancing refers to the even distribution of weight around each tire and wheel assembly. Both affect ride quality and tire wear, but they address different issues. A vibration at highway speeds is often a balancing issue. A pull or drift is more typically an alignment issue. We check both as part of our tire and alignment service.
